Swimming competition All Our Ducklings final

Three athletes from our club reached the finals of the duckling competition: Anni Kaarde, Mattias Stamm and Gloria Kirs. Anni reached the finals in three events: 50m freestyle, 50m backstroke and 50m breaststroke, Mattias in 50m freestyle and 50m backstroke and Gloria in 50m breaststroke and 50m backstroke. To reach the finals, you need to be in the top 24, 16 or 8 depending on the event, so just getting to the finals is a real challenge.

In the final, all the ducklings from our club showed strong results and gave their all, Anni swam the 50m crawl with a time of 33,95 (8th place), which is only slightly behind the record, the 50m backstroke (9th place) with a time of 40,57 and the 50m breaststroke (10th place) with a time of 47,87. Mattias swam the 50m crawl with a new strong record of 39,64, achieving 7th place, and the 50m backstroke with a time of 47,29 (6th place). Gloria swam the 50m breaststroke with a time of 50,04 (12th place) and the 50m backstroke with a time of 45,84 (22nd place), improving her record by two seconds.

In the finals, there is always a chance to try out the relay. We participated in both the 4x50m freestyle relay and the 4x50m combined medley relay (backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly, freestyle). In the relay, Björn-Henry Adamson came to our aid as the fourth team member, and in the freestyle relay, everyone gave their best and we came 7th in the team standings, with a time of 2:34.91. In the combined relay, we also tried our best and all the young swimmers swam their strongest areas, but unfortunately the result was not recorded and we received a disqualification. The disqualification was given because one of the swimmers did not touch the wall during the turn, which shows that in addition to making efforts, it is also necessary to swim correctly and according to the rules.

That's all for now with the Ducks series competition, and we'll continue with new challenges in the new season.
